Public Security Directorate’s Major Drug Disposal Operation in Jordan

Amman: The Public Security Directorate’s Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) has conducted a significant operation to destroy large quantities of illicit drugs. These narcotics were seized in a total of 4,048 cases involving trafficking, possession, and smuggling, following judicial verdicts.

According to Jordan News Agency, the confiscated substances included a staggering 16 million Captagon pills, 64 kilograms of marijuana, 24,000 assorted pills, 506 grams of cocaine, 1,370 kilograms of hashish, 236 grams of heroin, 7 kilograms of synthetic hashish, 47 kilograms of crystal, and 19 kilograms of Joker powder. This initiative is part of the AND’s ongoing efforts to curb drug-related activities within the kingdom.

The AND conducts regular operations across Jordan, including at border crossings, in collaboration with the Jordan Armed Forces, security agencies, and Jordan Customs. These efforts aim to prevent the entry and transit of contraband that poses significant threats to lives and communities.

The destruction process was overseen by a specialized committee led by the Assistant Director of Public Security for Operations and Training. The committee also included the AND Director, the Forensic Laboratories and Evidence Chief, and the State Security Court’s Prosecutor General. The narcotics were incinerated in drug disposal units heated to 1,000 degrees Celsius, ensuring complete breakdown and neutralization of their harmful properties.
