Amman: Industry, Trade and Supply Minister Yarub Qudah emphasized the critical role of public-private partnerships in driving Jordan’s economic progress. He highlighted this during the inauguration of the new permanent headquarters of the Southern Shuna Chamber of Commerce, which features multiple facilities to support regional commercial activities.
According to Jordan News Agency, Minister Qudah underscored the importance of developing strategic solutions to overcome challenges faced by various economic sectors in the Kingdom. He stressed enhancing production capacities and implementing proposals that align with the Economic Modernization Vision to achieve favorable outcomes for the national economy.
During the inauguration ceremony, Qudah reiterated the collaborative efforts of the government, the private sector, and civil society institutions in achieving political, economic, and administrative reforms. These reforms aim to foster development goals, support diverse sectors, reduce poverty and unemployme
nt, and stimulate a conducive business environment.
The minister acknowledged the government’s awareness of the challenges confronting Jordan’s economic sectors and elaborated on the efforts made to bolster the commercial sector. He emphasized its role as a primary driver of the national economy, employing tens of thousands of Jordanians and ensuring the availability of goods and services in the market.
Qudah also expressed the government’s appreciation for the Jordanian commercial sector’s effective response to regional and international crises. This response included enhancing the Kingdom’s stock of goods, particularly food, and maintaining regular supply chains.
Additionally, Qudah highlighted the Cabinet’s decision to exempt fees on customs cases before December 31, 2019, from fines by up to 90%, along with other measures benefiting the commercial sector. He pointed out the strategic advantages of the Southern Shuna region in establishing productive projects and food industries that benefit local farme
rs, traders, and residents.
Programs targeting small productive sectors are supported by the Jordan Enterprise Development Corporation, providing necessary backing to enhance growth and development in these areas.
