PSD warns against phishing links on social media apps

Public Security Directorate (PSD)’s anti-cybercrime unit has warned the public against responding to fraudulent links or scams on social media apps aimed to hack users’ phones, alleging official connection to Central Bank of Jordan (CBJ).

In a statement on Thursday, the unit called on all citizens and residents to avoid interacting with with these fake links, adding that CBJ does not ask personal or banking information on social platforms.

In case personal or banking data were sent to scam phone numbers, the unit called on victims to quickly contact their banks to suspend their accounts temporarily to dodge theft and hacking and visit the PSD’s unit to submit an official report on the incident.
