Princess Sumaya Honors Winners of Hacking Detection Competition

Amman: Her Royal Highness Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan, Chairman of the Princess Sumaya University for Technology, honored the university team members and their supervisors for achieving first place globally in the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) competition in New York, USA.

The team excelled in the field of cybersecurity and hacking detection (Collegiate Penetration Testing Competition – CPTC 9), underscoring the university’s commitment to providing continuous support for its students and professors.

Princess Sumaya conveyed her deep pride in the outstanding skills and profound knowledge demonstrated by the university’s students and professors in the realm of cybersecurity problem-solving. She commended the collaborative efforts of the team and their supervisors, highlighting that they were the sole participating team from outside the United States.

Emphasizing the significance of this remarkable success, Princess Sumaya expressed her optimism that it would serve as a catalyst for future achiev
ements.

Muhammad Ababneh, the team’s supervisor, provided insights into the competition, revealing that in October 2023, the university team secured the top spot in the regional qualifiers for the Middle East, Africa, and Europe. The hacking detection competition saw the participation of 250 university teams from eight global regions during the three-month-long regional qualifiers. The university team emerged as one of the 15 finalists.

The winning team comprised students and faculty members from the King Hussein Faculties of Computing Sciences and King Abdullah II Faculties of Engineering, including Nizar Dradakah, Omar Hamada, Mustafa Shawa, Hamza Sahat, Ahmed Jundi, and Sami Abdul Rahman.

In a closing gesture, Princess Sumaya presented gifts to the students and their supervisors.
