Princess Basma Distributes Aid to Women-Headed Households in Amman

Amman: HRH Princess Basma, Chairperson of the National Goodwill Campaign's higher committee, took a significant step in supporting women-headed households in Amman's al-Joufah, al-Ashrafiyah, and Jabal al-Taj neighborhoods. On Saturday, she distributed aid provided by the campaign in collaboration with Applied Science University.

According to Jordan News Agency, the distribution was part of the campaign's "Paths of Knowledge" program. HRH provided emergency educational grants to university students from the area who are enrolled in public universities and pursuing specialized fields that align with labor market demands. The aid distribution ceremony took place at the committee's headquarters of the Jabal al-Joufah, al-Ashrafiyah, and al-Taj Zakat Committee.

During the ceremony, HRH emphasized the campaign's commitment, in partnership with various entities, to contribute to national efforts aimed at enhancing the living and economic conditions of needy families across the Kingdom, especially those led by women. The occasion was attended by Assistant Amman Governor Saleh Kilani and members of the Higher Committee of the Goodwill Campaign.

Princess Basma highlighted the campaign's humanitarian objectives, which aim to assist targeted groups in achieving self-reliance through sustainable development interventions and productive projects. These initiatives are designed to provide permanent sources of income, ultimately improving the living conditions of underprivileged families.

Throughout its history, the committee has created opportunities for numerous underprivileged families across the Kingdom, helping them become self-reliant and productive households. HRH expressed gratitude to the campaign's partners, including various national institutions, for their role in enhancing development efforts in the Kingdom and enabling the campaign to reach its goals.

She also praised the contributions of Applied Science University and its student volunteers, as well as the charitable efforts of the Jabal al-Joufah, Ashrafiyah, and al-Taj Zakat Committee in supporting underprivileged families.

Hussein Samour, head of the Jabal al-Joufah, Ashrafiyah, and Taj Zakat Committee, acknowledged the committee's efforts since its establishment in 1983. With the support of philanthropists and donors, the committee provides aid to approximately 500 families and financial assistance to 450 poor families and orphaned university students.

Samour commended the Goodwill Campaign's contributions in helping the Zakat Committee achieve its goals and expand its beneficiaries. He also pledged to collaborate with the campaign to develop projects for several families in the area.

At Prince Hassan Secondary School for Boys, Princess Basma distributed emergency aid to about 50 women heads of households and 50 orphaned children. She made visits to the homes of two impoverished families to understand their conditions and was briefed on emergency and developmental interventions planned by the campaign to enhance their situations through home maintenance and other support measures.
