Amman: His Royal Highness Prince Rashid bin El Hassan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organisation (JHCO), recently met with Ambassador Mike Waltz, the United States' Representative to the United Nations, to deliberate on Jordan's initiatives in providing aid to the Gaza Strip.
According to Jordan News Agency, the meeting was also attended by representatives from UN agencies in Jordan and a delegation from the U.S. Embassy in Amman. During the discussion, Prince Rashid emphasized Jordan's unwavering commitment to humanitarian efforts in Gaza, guided by His Majesty King Abdullah II. He underscored the nation's efforts to maintain an efficient operational system and foster international partnerships to facilitate aid delivery.
The visiting delegation commended the advancements in logistics and recognized the Jordanian humanitarian corridor as a crucial channel for aid delivery to Gaza. Discussions also focused on enhancing the operation of the Jordanian relief corridor, aiming to overcome obstacles and ensure the efficient delivery of aid.
During the meeting, Prince Rashid and the delegation inaugurated the JHCO's new logistics operations center, which aims to bolster humanitarian response capabilities and improve readiness. At a subsequent press conference, Ambassador Waltz expressed appreciation for Jordan's partnership with the United States and its significant role in aiding the Palestinian people. He outlined the U.S. contributions, which include tents, shelters, blankets, medical supplies, food, flour, and other necessary items.
Waltz also noted that a ceasefire and the implementation of agreements, alongside the release of hostages, would create favorable conditions for Gaza's reconstruction. This would strengthen security and expand the humanitarian response, including emergency assistance and rebuilding efforts. He highlighted that his visit was aimed at addressing bureaucratic hurdles and supporting the progression of humanitarian operations in the future.
