Prime Minister and Palestinian Vice President Discuss Bilateral Relations and Gaza Situation

Amman: Prime Minister Jafar Hassan recently held a meeting with Hussein Sheikh, Vice President of the State of Palestine and Secretary General of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), at the Prime Ministry. The meeting, attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs Ayman Safadi, focused on reaffirming the strength of Jordanian-Palestinian relations and exploring avenues for enhanced cooperation.

According to Jordan News Agency, Prime Minister Hassan reiterated Jordan’s unwavering support for the Palestinian people’s legitimate rights, particularly the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. This stance aligns with international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative. The Prime Minister highlighted Jordan’s ongoing political and diplomatic endeavors, led by His Majesty King Abdullah II, to end the Israeli conflict in the Gaza Strip. These efforts aim to ensure the immediate and continued delivery of humanitarian aid and halt illegal Israeli actions in the occupied West Bank.

The Prime Minister emphasized that supporting Palestinian resilience and opposing displacement efforts are central to Jordan’s priorities. Vice President Sheikh lauded Jordan’s consistent and principled support, under King Abdullah II, for the Palestinian cause and rights. He expressed gratitude for Jordan’s efforts to stop the Israeli conflict in Gaza and its leadership in providing aid to affected populations. Additionally, Sheikh stressed the critical need for intensified international efforts to secure the entry of essential humanitarian aid into the besieged Gaza Strip, in light of the severe humanitarian crisis.
