Amman:Minister of Government Communication and Government Spokesperson Mohammad Momani emphasized that the 2026 General Population and Housing Census is crucial for enhancing Jordan's institutional framework and supporting strategic public sector planning.
According to Jordan News Agency, Momani stated that the decennial census is an important global standard for modern governance, helping countries improve future forecasting and policy implementation. He noted Jordan's leadership in adopting statistical frameworks to improve governmental strategies' precision and effectiveness.
He assured that strict legal protections are in place to ensure privacy and data confidentiality for citizens and residents. Verification protocols have been established to enable households to confirm the identity of field enumerators.
The field enumeration phase, which began on Thursday, involves around 12,000 field researchers, with 60 percent being women. They will survey approximately 12 million residents, 2.5 million households, and over one million structural units across Jordan.
