Pope Condemns Israeli Strike on Gaza Church

Vatican city: Pope Leo XIV has condemned the Israeli attack on the Holy Family Catholic Church in Gaza, urging the international community to uphold international humanitarian law and ensure the protection of civilians and places of worship.

According to Jordan News Agency, the Pope, speaking after Sunday prayers, expressed profound sorrow over the Israeli military strike last Thursday that targeted the Catholic parish in Gaza City, killing three Christians and seriously injuring others.

“This act sadly adds to the ongoing military assaults on civilians and places of worship in Gaza,” he said.

Renewing his call for an immediate end to the brutality of war, the Pope appealed for a peaceful resolution to the conflict and called on the international community to shoulder its responsibility in safeguarding humanitarian law, protecting civilians, ending collective punishment, and preventing indiscriminate use of force and forced displacement.
