Police officers who mistreated army personnel detained

Public Security Directorate (PSD) Director Maj. Gen. Hussein Hawatmeh, ordered the detention of police officers, who appeared in video mistreating an army personnel, in a violation of laws and norms.

Hawatmeh’s order was issued after validating the authenticity of the video that went viral on social media on Saturday, according the PSD spokesperson.

Hawatmeh also instructed the police judiciary to expedite investigations, take toughest legal measures, and arrest officers who appeared in the video, in order to enforce deterrent penalties against violators pursuant to the provisions of the law, the spokesperson said.

He added,” the PSD will spare no effort to deal with any individual violations that do not reflect the true image of its established principles in applying the rule of law in a framework of accountability, nor does it reflect the brotherly relationship with the comrades of arms from the Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF).”

The PSD, being concerned with enforcing the law and maintaining the security and safety of citizens, will not accept any violation of laws by any of its members, and it will take all deterrent measures to protect rights.
