Police, GAM officials tour downtown area to inspect readiness to deal with depression

Director of Central Amman Police Department, Brigadier Tamer Maaytah, inspected the downtown area to examine readiness to deal with the depression that prevails in the Kingdom, especially the readiness of field teams, water suction and distribution generators, and main rainwater drainage outlets.

Maaytah, accompanied by Hussam Najdawi, Deputy City Director for Regions and Environment in the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM), called on merchants and shop owners to inspect the submersible pumps on floors and shops that are below street level, and to take precautions when storing goods in warehouses and basement floors.

During the tour, merchants and shop owners praised GAM’s projects and infrastructure improvements in the downtown area to absorb the surface water caused by the rainfall.

GMA had declared a state of emergency (maximum – water), as of Monday morning, to deal with the depression that prevails in the Kingdom, which is accompanied by heavy rainfall and strong winds.
