PM meets Lebanese parliament’s speaker

Prime Minister Dr. Bisher Khasawneh met in Beirut Thursday, Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi and Jordan’s Ambassador to Lebanon Walid Hadid.

Speaking at the meeting, Khasawneh stressed that His Majesty’s stances towards Lebanon are based on keenness to support Lebanon to overcome challenges facing it and advance its development.

Jordan, he said, is “ready to do everything possible to support Lebanon and meet brotherly Lebanese people’s needs.”

Regarding Egyptian gas and electrical connection, Khasawneh noted Jordan is working to accelerate steps taken to see these projects implemented on the ground “as soon as possible,” adding that the Kingdom “will work on a daily basis to carry them out.”

He said: “We want to develop all cooperation relations between Jordan and Lebanon to the best levels in a way that is beneficial and achieves common interests”.

Berri, for his part, asked the PM to convey his greetings to His Majesty King Abdullah II, lauding His Majesty’s “permanent and honorable” stances in support of Lebanon in all forums.

Jordan’s leadership and political stances to serve Arab causes are “appreciated” in the region and the world, Berri pointed out.
