PM issues communiqué to reduce nightly curfew hours, starting 1st day of Eid Fitr

Prime Minister, Dr. Bisher Khasawneh, issued a communiqué based on the provisions of Defense Order No. 19 of 2020, reducing nightly curfew hours from the first day of Eid Al-Fitr,

to take effect at 11p.m for individuals until 6.pm. throughout the week.

As for economic establishments and businesses, the lockdown begins 10:p.m until 6:a.m round the week, except for the entities, which the premier decides otherwise depending on their work nature.

The government said this communique to reduce nightly curfew period on individuals and establishments, starting from the first day of Eid Al Fitr, comes within the framework of the “safe, gradual” mitigation measures taken by the government according to the epidemiological situation, aimed to lead to the strategic goal of reaching a safe summer to reopen most sectors and the economic wheel as normal, by implementation of health protocols.

The government said the “bet remains on the adherence of citizens and establishments to public safety measures.”

The government will move forward to strike balance between preserving the citizen’s health and sustaining economic activities, and taking mitigation measures according to the developments of the Kingdom’s epidemiological situation, read the communiqué.

The government said the goal to reach a safe summer in Jordan means opening most sectors early next July and also returning to in-person education in schools and universities next September.

The gov’t said this scheme will be achieved in light of the advanced stages made in regard to the vaccination campaign for individuals and workers in various sectors and establishments, adding that all vaccines are “safe and recognized and registered at Jordanian, world health institutions,” said the communiqué.
