Amman: Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Zeina Toukan and United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Barham Salih, along with other key UN officials, discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the Jordanian government and the agency.
According to Jordan News Agency, a ministry statement highlighted Toukan's commendation of the existing cooperation between Jordan and UNHCR in providing basic services to refugees. She pointed out the challenges arising from declining financial resources and their direct impact on refugee support programs. Toukan emphasized the importance of joint efforts to ensure the voluntary and safe return of Syrian refugees to their country.
Salih expressed appreciation for the coordination with the Jordanian government and acknowledged Jordan's efforts in hosting refugees, providing them with basic services, and sustaining this humanitarian role.
