Planning, Labor Ministries Sign Deal to Expand Ma’an Factory, Create Jobs

Ma'an: Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Zeina Toukan, Minister of Labor Khaled Bakar, and General Manager of Divont Chocolate Factory Zaid Bdour signed a cooperation agreement to expand the company's production facility in Wadi Musa, Ma'an Governorate.

According to Jordan News Agency, Toukan stated that the agreement aligns with the efforts to operationalize the priorities of the Economic Modernisation Vision through the implementation of viable, productivity-driven projects. She emphasized that the expansion is expected to generate employment opportunities for Jordanians and contribute to broadening the economic base across governorates.

Toukan further mentioned that the agreement reflects the Ministry's approach to institutionalizing development financing mechanisms and channeling them toward projects with clear economic returns, supporting sustainable job creation and strengthening local development outcomes.

Bakar noted that the Ministry of Labor will provide targeted incentives to Jordanian workers under the Productive Branches Initiative, which is implemented within the framework of a Royal Initiative. This program supports the establishment of satellite production units in governorates and rural areas, promoting job creation within local communities and advancing decentralized development.

Bdour expressed appreciation for the support provided by both ministries, noting that the agreement enables private sector expansion while contributing to poverty reduction and employment generation in remote areas. He stated that the company is committed to creating 60 job opportunities for men and women from Ma'an Governorate, supporting local economic activity, and delivering broader social and developmental benefits.
