Phosphate company generates JD437mln PBT profits in 2021

The Jordan Phosphate Mines Company (JPMC) Monday reported a record JD535.5 million in profits in 2021, according to a disclosure issued by the JPMC.

The company’s profit before tax (PBT) in 2021 stood at JD437.5 million, as the net profits amounted to JD335.6 million after tax and expenses.

The JPMC’s profits in 2021 have increased 1,200 percent compared to 2020, the disclosure on the Amman Stock Exchange (ASE) and Jordan Securities Commission (JSC’s) lists reveal.

Chairman of the JPMC Mohammed Thunaibat said that since its establishment, the company has managed to up its phosphate and fertilizer production to a record high, as it produced over 10 million tons of phosphate and sold 9.7 million tons. It produced 728,000 tons of fertilizer.

Thunaibat said the company is one of the country’s main contributors to transactions in foreign currencies, adding that the JPMC and allied companies’ exports in 2021 amounted to $2.034 billion. They paid an amount of JD140 million ($200 million) in tax and fees to the treasury.
