Amman: The Jordan Petroleum Refinery Company has firmly denied allegations of water being present in liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders, emphasizing that water is not used at any stage of the LPG supply chain, including production, import, storage, and bottling at its gas filling facilities in Zarqa, Amman, and Irbid.
According to Jordan News Agency, the company's statement was released in response to a video circulating on social media that purportedly showed water inside a gas cylinder. The refinery, which fills an average of 96,000 cylinders per day on a single production line, noted that production can increase to about 250,000 cylinders daily during peak demand and cold weather conditions.
The company assured that all cylinders filled at its facilities contain only LPG, with no water present. It stated that if the refinery were the source of the water, the problem would have been evident in thousands of cylinders filled on the same production line on the same day. The company also clarified that it has no interest or incentive to fill cylinders with anything other than LPG and that its responsibility for the cylinders ends once they leave its filling stations.
Furthermore, the refinery explained that cylinders undergo strict inspections by qualified technical staff both before and after filling. No cylinder is released unless it passes checks covering the cylinder body, valve, and the quantity of gas filled. Any cylinder found to be defective is immediately rejected.
The company advised consumers to verify that the shrink-wrap seal on the cylinder valve is intact before purchase and to inspect the hose, leak detector, and gas regulator during installation. It also encouraged customers to report any complaints or inquiries related to gas cylinders through its unified hotline at 06-222-1262.
