Amman: Participants in a foundational media course for non-commissioned officers, organized by the Military Media Training Institute, recently visited the Jordan News Agency (Petra) to learn about its significant role in the national media sector.
According to Jordan News Agency, Petra Director General Fairooz Mubaideen emphasized the agency’s credibility as a news source and its commitment to high professional standards and service orientation. She highlighted Petra’s digitization strategy, which includes the establishment of a new digital media directorate, the use of multimedia such as infographic videos, and the recruitment of young journalists.
Mubaideen further noted that Petra serves as a reliable news source for local media outlets, underlining the agency’s focus on responsibility, accuracy, and the trust it has garnered from the public and officials. She stated that Petra’s strategic aim is to serve national interests rather than compete for profit or viewership.
Director of News, Jamil Barmawi, added that Petra prioritizes training through a center established in 2005, which has gained the trust of national institutions, newspapers, media outlets, universities, and civil society organizations. He also mentioned that Petra hosts the Federation of Arab News Agencies’ (FANA) Media Training Center, supporting the federation’s efforts to promote best professional practices.
