PDTRA Highlights Strong Jordan-Italy Ties, Focus on Heritage Preservation

Petra: The Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA) has reaffirmed the strength of Jordanian-Italian relations, highlighting ongoing cooperation in the preservation of cultural heritage.

According to Jordan News Agency, Chairman of the Authority's Board of Commissioners Adnan Sawair emphasized that Petra, a global heritage site, is a cultural landmark that reflects the convergence of civilizations across history. He underscored the importance of enhancing conservation efforts through maintenance and restoration programs. These initiatives, implemented in cooperation with international partners, aim to safeguard the site's historical and cultural value and ensure its sustainability.

Sawair stated that these efforts align with national priorities to strengthen Jordan's presence on the international stage. This approach is supported by King Abdullah II's commitment to expanding cooperation with partner countries.

Discussing relations with Italy, Sawair noted joint work in heritage conservation, including twinning agreements with Italian landmarks such as the Colosseum and Barbarano Romano. He cited similarities in architectural and rock-carving features as a basis for these collaborations.

Additionally, he acknowledged the role of international media in promoting Petra's historical significance and supporting its position as a global tourism destination.
