Amman: The Lower House Foreign Affairs Committee, chaired by MP Haitham Ziyadin, met with the Azerbaijan Ambassador to Jordan, Shahin Abdullayev, to discuss enhancing cooperation between the two countries across multiple sectors.
According to Jordan News Agency, Ziyadin highlighted the Jordanian-Azerbaijani relations that are built on ongoing collaboration and mutual respect. He expressed the committee's commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, focusing on economic, investment, and tourism sectors to achieve shared interests and promote development.
Ziyadin urged for transforming challenges into opportunities for mutual cooperation, noting Azerbaijan's natural resources, particularly gas and oil, as potential avenues for collaboration and expertise exchange. Committee members, including MPs Mohammad Sabaileh and Ali Ghizawi, acknowledged Azerbaijan's supportive stance on King Abdullah II's positions regarding the Palestinian cause and its backing of the Hashemite Custodianship over Jerusalem's holy sites.
Ambassador Abdullayev praised the level of bilateral relations and expressed Azerbaijan's interest in strengthening ties, particularly in economic and trade fields. He emphasized the potential for expanding cooperation in the agricultural sector, recognizing Jordan's expertise. The ambassador also mentioned a vision to establish a joint investment project or fund to bolster bilateral economic relations, reiterating his government's readiness to develop mutual cooperation for shared benefits.
