Palestinians condemn Israel’s attempt to prevent Jordan ambassador from entering Al-Aqsa Mosque

Palestinian Chief Justice Mahmoud Habash Tuesday condemned the attempt by the Israeli authorities to prevent the Jordanian ambassador from entering the Al-Aqsa Mosque, describing the attempt as an “aggressive act that reflects racist insolence.”

In a statement to the Jordan News Agency, Habash said the “aggressive behaviour is an attack on the holy sites and the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, and an attack on the Hashemite custodianship of Islamic and Christian sanctities that all countries of the world recognise and uphold.”

He added that the attack against the ambassador was a continuation of attempts to change the historical and legal situation approved by international law, which states that only Muslims should supervise the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

In turn, the Secretary-General of the Popular National Congress for Jerusalem, Bilal Natsheh, noted the seriousness of the Israeli authorities’ attempt to prevent the Jordanian ambassador from entering Al-Aqsa Mosque, noting in an interview with Jordan News Agency the importance of Jordan’s role in caring for the Islamic and Christian sanctities, especially the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
