Hanoi: More than 60 countries signed the United Nations’ first treaty to fight cybercrime on Saturday in Hanoi. The agreement establishes an international legal framework to enhance global cooperation in combating cybercrime, which ranges from child exploitation to fraud and money laundering.
According to Jordan News Agency, UN Secretary-General Ant³nio Guterres welcomed the “important step,” describing it as “just the beginning.” Speaking at the signing ceremony in the Vietnamese capital, Guterres emphasized the urgent need for a strong, coordinated global response to tackle cybercrime. He highlighted how sophisticated scams defraud families, exploit migrants, and siphon billions of dollars from the global economy daily.
