Oman’s Sultan and Russian Security Official Discuss Military Cooperation

Muscat: Omani Sultan Haitham bin Tariq held discussions in Muscat with Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu, focusing on enhancing military and security cooperation. The meeting aimed to explore ways to bolster joint efforts to maintain regional stability.

According to Anadolu Agency, the discussions were centered on security and military ties, with a strong emphasis on strengthening cooperative measures. Shoigu conveyed a personal message from Russian President Vladimir Putin to Sultan Haitham, although Russia Today reported that the content of the message was not disclosed. Additionally, Shoigu highlighted the importance of technical military cooperation and the necessity of reaching concrete agreements.

Shoigu’s visit to Oman began on Tuesday, marking an official trip aimed at fostering security cooperation and developing strategic projects between the two nations. Prior to Oman, Shoigu visited Egypt and engaged in talks with President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and National Security Adviser Faiza Abou el-Naga.
