Ramallah: Palestinian prisoner institutions announced that the number of Palestinian prisoners and detainees held in Israeli jails has surged to approximately 9,300. This figure mainly comprises detainees and administrative detainees.
According to Jordan News Agency, the data provided by prisoner organizations and the Israeli Prison Service up to the beginning of December served as the basis for these figures. This total excludes detainees in camps operated by the Israeli army. The report details that among these prisoners, 1,254 have been sentenced, while 51 are female prisoners, including two minors. Additionally, 350 child prisoners are currently held in Ofer and Megiddo prisons, and 3,350 individuals are classified as administrative detainees.
The statement further revealed that 1,220 detainees are labeled as "unlawful combatants." It is important to note that this number does not encompass all Gaza detainees held in Israeli army camps under this classification.
