GeneralNorthern Borders Museums: A Window into the Past

The private museums of the Northern Borders Region offer a captivating glimpse into the region’s modern history with cultural landmarks preserving a rich heritage, inviting visitors to embark on a journey through time.

Local passionate collector Jaza Al-Dahmashi opened such a museum in Arar, where he showcases a wide array of artifacts dating back to the region’s modern historic era. Visitors can explore tools and objects used by Bedouins and locals, gaining a deeper understanding of their way of life.

Al-Dahmashi said that he has spent over three decades gathering these treasures, which he displays in his private museum he calls ‘Place for the Past.’ His collection includes household items, copperware, traditional coffee pots, Sadu textiles, games, weapons, and more. He has amassed over 6,000 pieces, each telling a unique story. He added that some items were generously donated by friends and relatives, and some he bought.

The museum serves as a valuable resource for both locals and tourists, offering a ta
ngible connection to the region’s past.
