New 4-magnitude earthquake hits coast of Turkish state of Hatay

Amman, A new earthquake occurred at dawn on Wednesday, with a magnitude of 4 on the Richter scale, in the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of Hatay, southern Turkiye.

A statement by the Turkish Emergency and Disaster Management Administration, “AFAD”, said that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 6.94 km, according to the Anatolia News Agency.

It added that its center is 71.61 km from the coast of Yayladag district of Hatay.

At dawn the day before yesterday, an earthquake struck southern Turkiye and northern Syria with a magnitude of 7.7, followed by another one hours later with a magnitude of 7.6 and dozens of aftershocks, leaving huge losses of lives and property in the two countries.
