NCSCM Urges Increased Preparedness to Prevent Summer Grass Fires

Amman: National Center For Security and Crisis Management (NCSCM) called for increasing preparedness and implementing necessary proactive measures to prevent grass fires, especially given the current regional circumstances and the possibility of their spread.

According to Jordan News Agency, the center highlighted the approaching summer season, with its accompanying rise in temperatures and dry vegetation, which increases the likelihood of fire occurrence. This situation necessitates that government institutions adhere to the highest public safety standards to protect lives, property, and forest resources.

The NCSCM also called for compliance with required procedures, emphasizing weed removal campaigns by deploying all available resources from relevant ministries and institutions, particularly near vital facilities. The center stressed the importance of intensifying national awareness campaigns, continuously guiding picnickers and tourists to strictly adhere to public safety procedures in picnic areas.

The center noted the importance of establishing firebreaks in forests and picnic areas using appropriate equipment and raising preparedness levels among relevant authorities. It underscored the need to ensure a “swift and effective” response to any potential emergencies.

Furthermore, the NCSCM stressed the importance of setting up fire stations readily available near forests and recreational areas for emergencies. To ensure success in these efforts, the center urged strengthened coordination of relevant agencies with the Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF) – the Arab Army, to leverage the army’s available firefighting capabilities and equipment.
