National Exports Rise by 4.1% in 2024

Amman: National exports grew by 4.1 percent in 2024, reaching JD8.579 billion, compared to JD8.245 billion in 2023, according to a monthly report by the Department of Statistics.

According to Jordan News Agency, total exports, including re-exports, increased by 5.8 percent to JD9.433 billion, up from JD8.912 billion in 2023. The value of re-exports rose significantly by 28 percent to JD854 million, compared to JD667 million the previous year.

Imports saw a 4.5 percent increase in 2024, reaching JD19.110 billion, up from JD18.288 billion in 2023. This led to a 5.8 percent rise in the trade balance deficit. The coverage rate of total exports to imports remained steady at 49 percent.

In December 2024 alone, total exports reached JD813 million, with national exports at JD747 million and re-exports at JD66 million. Imports stood at JD1.826 billion, resulting in a trade deficit of JD1.013 billion for the month.

Compared to December 2023, total exports grew by 13.5 percent, national exports by 12.3 percent, re-exports by 29.4 percent, and imports by 39.8 percent.

The export coverage rate for imports in December declined to 45 percent, down 10 percentage points from 55 percent in the same month of 2023.
