MoU Signed to Boost Jordanian Women-Led Investment Engagement

Amman: The Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, ARCAN, and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) have signed a strategic memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at supporting the National Entrepreneurship Policy. The agreement seeks to enhance investment readiness in Jordan’s startup sector, focusing on empowering women and establishing a women-led investment network.

According to Jordan News Agency, the MoU is part of the Entrepreneurship for Sustainable Economic Development and Employment Project. It aims to increase women’s engagement in the investment environment by supporting the Angel Investors Club, the first of its kind in Jordan. The agreement also intends to streamline access to funding and mentorship for women entrepreneurs, aligning with the Economic Modernization Vision and the National Entrepreneurship Policy.

The MoU was signed by Sami Smeirat, Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship; Fidaa Taher, ARCAN Managing Partner; and Ismail Shaheen, Executive Director and Deputy Chairman of the Entrepreneurship for Sustainable Economic Development and Employment Project Committee. The parties agreed to collaborate on organizing training and investment events, facilitating connections for female investors and startups, and enhancing cooperation with local and international networks.

This initiative aims to ensure the sustainability of the effort and increase its impact on stimulating innovation and economic growth driven by creativity and technology. At the signing ceremony, Smeirat emphasized the ministry’s commitment to the National Entrepreneurship Policy by strengthening partnerships with the private sector and international initiatives.

Taher expressed ARCAN’s pride in the partnership, which contributes to creating a more inclusive business environment and supports a new generation of women. Taher noted that the endeavor aims to have a tangible impact on the entrepreneurial and investment landscape at both local and regional levels through platforms for communication, training, mentorship, and expertise exchange.
