Amman: Deputizing for His Royal Highness Prince Ali bin Al Hussein, Minister of Government Communication, Dr. Mohammad Momani, inaugurated the World Social Media Forum, “ICON Summit 2025,” addressing the significant role of digital transformations in media and content creation.
According to Jordan News Agency, the opening ceremony took place in Amman and witnessed participation from representatives of local, Arab, and international media outlets, along with media professionals, content creators, and experts from various Arab countries. During the address, Momani conveyed Prince Ali’s greetings and appreciation for the participants’ efforts to promote dialogue on the future of media and digital platforms amidst rapid technological shifts.
As the Official Government Spokesperson, Momani emphasized the forum’s alignment with the Kingdom’s vision to advance its digital and media landscape, guided by His Majesty King Abdullah II and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II. The forum aims to redefine the relationship between traditional and social media, focusing on truth, public awareness, and citizen information access.
Momani highlighted traditional media’s accuracy and in-depth content, contrasted with digital platforms’ speed and reach, underscoring the necessity of integrating these aspects using modern technologies and digital analytics. He addressed digital space challenges, including misinformation, hate speech, privacy violations, and unregulated algorithms.
Momani further discussed the Ministry of Government Communication’s efforts to develop a transparent communication system, building public trust, disseminating accurate information, and fostering innovation in digital media. He stressed the role of youth in digital transformation and the significance of media literacy for responsible content creation.
Calling for global cooperation, Momani urged media institutions and technology platforms to partner with Jordan in media innovation, counter misinformation, support business accelerators, and train young talent. The forum featured panel discussions on topics like “Journalism in a Post-Platform World,” exploring audience behavior shifts and the role of artificial intelligence.
The forum concluded with an awards ceremony, photo opportunity, and presentation of the Peacock Awards.
