Ministry Detects Two Illegal Attacks on Water Sources in Irbid

Irbid: The Ministry of Water and Irrigation, in cooperation with the Jordan Water Authority (JWA) and the Yarmouk Water Company, has detected two illegal attacks on drinking water sources and networks in the northern Irbid governorate. These incidents were uncovered during joint monitoring and security campaigns.

According to Jordan News Agency, the necessary legal measures have been taken against the violators. The ministry's Internal Control Directorate, in collaboration with the Public Security Directorate (PSD), the Gendarmerie Forces, and the Royal Department for Environmental Protection, conducted extensive monitoring campaigns in several areas that led to the discovery of these attacks on water sources.

A 22-cubic-meter water tanker truck, used to siphon off and sell water from an unknown source, was seized following information about illegal activities threatening the safety of water sources. The tanker was completely emptied and destroyed during the crackdown.

In a separate incident, the ministry discovered an attack on a water supply pipeline to a house, where the subscriber had tampered with and removed the water meter. The individual used a pump and a private tank to illegally fill water containers. The meter was confiscated, the supply pipeline was disconnected, and reports were filed against the violator.

The ministry has stated that its monitoring campaigns will continue nationwide to protect Jordan's water resources, ensure equitable distribution, and maintain water-related security. Any tampering with water networks will be met with strict legal measures, and the ministry urges citizens to report any violations that harm the public interest.
