Amman:The Ministry of Labour has issued a reminder to non-Jordanian workers in Jordan to regularize their status by December 1. This call specifically targets those who entered the country for purposes other than employment and have not obtained work permits.
According to Jordan News Agency, the Ministry's spokesperson, Mohammad Zyoud, announced that a Cabinet decision allows these workers to secure legal work permits. This can be done by paying the full work permit fee along with a one-time payment of JD 500, which covers all previous years without regard to their number.
The decision is described as a significant opportunity for workers and employers in various sectors, including domestic employment, to regularize their workers' status at a reduced cost and avoid penalties. Zyoud emphasized that labor inspection teams will conduct field visits across the governorates. Workers without valid permits or those who have changed employers or professions without authorization face deportation.
Additionally, from January 1, deportation flags will be placed in electronic systems for workers who fail to regularize their status, and legal action will be taken against non-compliant employers. The ministry reiterated its dedication to regulating the labor market, safeguarding job opportunities for Jordanians, and ensuring non-Jordanian workers comply with legal requirements.
