Ramtha: The Ministers of Youth Raed Adwan and Local Administration Walid Masri engaged in a significant event on Saturday, planting 6,000 trees in Ramtha, situated in the Irbid Governorate. This activity forms a part of the broader national afforestation and greening campaign that is being executed across Jordan.
According to Jordan News Agency, the campaign's main objective is to foster a culture of environmental volunteerism among the youth and actively involve them in ecological matters and the protection of resources. Minister Adwan highlighted in an interview with Petra that the Youth Ministry is crafting collaborative programs aimed at implementing a strategy to plant one million forest trees.
Adwan also noted the collaboration with the "We Are" platform and young volunteers, leading to the planting of trees in Ramtha's parks as an integral part of the national afforestation strategy. The campaign exemplifies a cooperative approach to enhancing environmental awareness and establishing a volunteer culture.
Minister Masri pointed out that this campaign is a segment of a comprehensive national plan to plant over 250,000 trees within the year, with the objective of expanding green spaces and enhancing both the environmental and urban landscapes throughout the Kingdom.
Jamal Abu Obeid, head of the Ramtha Municipality Committee, stated that the initiative is part of an all-encompassing afforestation plan to increase green spaces. He commended the Ministries of Youth and Local Administration for their crucial contributions to the campaign's success, revealing that the municipality has planted 3,500 trees in the past ten days, aiming for a total of 6,000.
These activities are integrated into the national afforestation campaign, inaugurated by the Ministry of Local Administration in conjunction with several other ministries as part of Arbor Day celebrations. The campaign seeks to raise environmental consciousness, underscore the significance of afforestation, and expand green spaces across the Kingdom.
