Ministers from 25 Nations Urge Immediate Gaza Ceasefire and Halt to Settlements

Brussels: The Foreign ministers of 25 countries, including the UK, Australia, France, Canada, and Japan, along with the European Commissioner for Preparedness and Crisis Management, have called for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, warning of an escalating humanitarian catastrophe there.

According to Jordan News Agency, in a joint statement, the ministers held Israel responsible for the obstruction of aid and committing serious violations of international humanitarian law. They condemned the killing of more than 800 Palestinians who were trying to collect aid.

The statement also rejected the displacement of Palestinians or altering the demographic structure of the occupied territories. It warned against building settlements in area E1 east of Jerusalem, which could undermine the two-state solution.

Additionally, the ministers urged Israel to halt settlement construction across the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and to end settler violence against Palestinians.

They called for lifting all Israeli restrictions on aid entry, protecting civilians, supporting ceasefire efforts, and taking additional steps to support a political process for lasting peace in the region.
