Minister of Government Communication Faisal Shboul Wednesday said that His Majesty King Abdullah II, during a visit to the prime minister’s office, was “clear and direct” in his directives to his cabinet ministers who said they are “moving forward” with the national modernisation programme.
Shboul said the paths of political modernisation completed the constitutional amendments and the parties and election laws, adding that the government’s task at this stage is to create a “sufficient” political environment to move towards the future and lead to the first parliamentary elections on party lines.
He noted that issuing a law for regulating partisan work in higher education institutions last Sunday is an “advanced step in this path.” The law would allow university students to practice partisan life at universities.
On the path of administrative modernisation, Shboul told Al-Mamlaka TV: We are in the first phase of the road map for modernising this path, which includes seven main axes up to the year 2025, as work teams began to develop plans, including the establishment of the Ministry of Government Communication as part of this modernisation.”
He said that the Ministry of Government Communication was established to develop a national narrative for the media and a national media policy that intensifies communication with officials.
He said it would implement projects, including strengthening the work and tasks of media spokespersons in ministries and public institutions.
