Amman: Minister of Environment, Dr. Ayman Suleiman, and Director of Public Security Directorate (PSD), Maj. Gen. Dr. Obaidullah Maayta, discussed ways to enhance joint coordination and cooperation frameworks, with the start of the tourist season. This effort aims to support the implementation of the executive program for the National Cleanliness Strategy, reduce littering, and maintain the pristine condition of Jordan's tourist and archaeological sites and recreational areas.
According to Jordan News Agency, during the meeting, Suleiman emphasized the importance of the partnership, praising the PSD personnel's role in their various units and formations. Suleiman commended the police efforts through environmental awareness and education programs, citing their field monitoring and oversight efforts, and their prominent role in the national campaign to reduce littering and enforce related laws.
In turn, Maayta affirmed the directorate's continued commitment to implementing environmental awareness and education programs, in cooperation with relevant authorities, and enforcing the law against violators. Maayta added that this process aims to promote behaviors among citizens and reduce the phenomenon of indiscriminate waste disposal.
Both sides called for intensifying joint campaigns in the coming period, particularly in areas with a high turnout of visitors, to ensure a safe and clean environment that reflects the Kingdom's civilized image.
