Minister Outlines Tourism Priorities Under EMV’s 2nd Executive Program

Amman: Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Imad Hijazin announced the criteria for selecting projects under the second executive program of the Economic Modernization Vision (EMV) for 2026-2029. These criteria focus on achieving a tangible economic impact, strengthening the tourism sector’s contribution to development, linking projects to initiatives set out in the vision, readiness for implementation, and the availability of financial allocations. Hijazin emphasized that these standards guarantee the success and sustainability of projects.

According to Jordan News Agency, Hijazin, speaking at a workshop aimed at preparing the second executive program for the tourism sector, stressed the importance of ensuring the feasibility and sustainability of projects. He highlighted tourism’s role as a key driver of economic growth, which generates direct and indirect jobs and empowers local communities. He also underscored the significance of public-private partnerships to meet challenges and achieve the vision’s goals, noting that a collective effort is necessary to overcome obstacles for the national interest and benefit of tourism.

Participants at the workshop viewed the session as a crucial step in translating the economic vision into actionable measures, creating a framework for partnership among stakeholders to enhance tourism offerings and boost investment. Held at the Prime Ministry, the workshop served as a platform for sharing initiatives and plans to develop tourism products and strengthen Jordan’s position on the global tourism map.

Discussions at the session included several core initiatives of the second executive program, such as promoting domestic tourism, developing varied products and experiences, revitalizing city centers, and enhancing investment in the tourism sector. The program also aims to link Jordan with target countries and markets.

Other initiatives focused on tourism marketing through promotional campaigns and advertising diverse products, alongside investment and community empowerment initiatives. These include mapping investment opportunities, activating the Tourism Development Fund, and creating opportunities for youth, women, and persons with disabilities.

Regarding heritage management and protection, the workshop addressed initiatives to develop archaeological museums, safeguard collections, upgrade storage facilities, and establish Jordan as a regional hub for conservation training. It also highlighted the preservation and development of archaeological and tourist sites.

The workshop further covered human resources initiatives, such as upskilling sector workers and training national talent, as well as digital transformation projects, including a tourism sector data system and smart tourism services.
