Berlin: Minister of Social Development Wafa Bani Mustafa underscored that technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship have become essential pillars in ensuring the full integration, independence, and dignity of persons with disabilities across various aspects of life.
According to Jordan News Agency, Bani Mustafa spoke on Thursday at a session titled “Technology, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship: Supporting Independent Living for Persons with Disabilities” during the Third Global Disability Summit 2025 in Berlin, Germany. She outlined Jordan’s legislative progress in promoting disability rights.
She emphasized the importance of aligning legal frameworks with international agreements, highlighting the amendment to Article 6 of the Jordanian Constitution, which marks a significant step in affirming the rights of persons with disabilities and the state’s commitment to their empowerment. She also cited the Social Development Law of 2024 and related regulations supporting social work practices.
Bani Mustafa noted that Jordan has made significant advancements in assistive technology, enhancing the quality of life for persons with disabilities through smart devices, assistive applications, and artificial intelligence-driven solutions. Various ministries and institutions have integrated technology into education, healthcare, rehabilitation, and social services, improving service quality and accessibility.
She also reviewed achievements in utilizing technology to promote inclusive education, foster economic empowerment, and ensure equitable access to healthcare for persons with disabilities.
The minister stressed that achieving full independence for persons with disabilities requires collective efforts from governments, the private sector, civil society, and international organizations. She called for increased investment in assistive technology, making it more affordable, fostering innovation and entrepreneurship among persons with disabilities, and translating legal commitments into practical policies and procedures.
