According to Jordan News Agency, Shehadeh noted that recent decisions, covering taxes, customs, and domanial money, form part of a comprehensive economic package. Among these is a decision from three weeks ago to exempt individuals facing customs penalties from up to 90 percent of fines for cases discovered or seizures made prior to December 31, 2019, with an option to settle payments in installments. Additionally, a recent restructuring of the Tax Settlements Committee extends its authority to handle cas
es exceeding one million dinars, addressing unresolved cases totaling JD180 million.

Shehadeh highlighted a third decision, providing a 90 percent exemption on fines for domanial money, provided the principal is fully paid. This measure completes the integrated economic package aligned with the Economic Modernization Vision.

The minister emphasized that the government’s economic program serves as a practical approach to realizing economic growth, enhancing the quality of life for Jordanians, and promoting sustainability. He encouraged citizens with outstanding cases to approach the Ministry of Finance for resolution, contributing to a stable economic outlook.

The Cabinet recently extended the Tax Settlement and Reconciliation Committee’s mandate to accept settlement requests through the end of 2024. The mandate amendment also allows settlements for cases with final court judgments, regardless of the outstanding amount, provided the original tax or fine exceeds one million dinars, with exceptions for cases
involving tax evasion.
