Amman: The Embassy of Mexico in Jordan, in collaboration with the Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation and the Instituto Cervantes in Amman, organized a special screening of the acclaimed Mexican film “Pedro Paramo,” directed by Rodrigo Prieto. The event is part of the celebrations to mark the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Mexico and Jordan, aiming to enhance cultural exchange and friendship between the two nations.

According to Jordan News Agency, the film is a cinematic adaptation of Juan Rulfo’s novel “Pedro Paramo,” a significant piece of 20th-century Mexican literature. The narrative follows Juan Preciado on his quest to find his father, Pedro Paramo, in a deserted village filled with ghostly presences.

Before the screening, the Mexican Ambassador, Jacob Prado, and the Director of the Cervantes Institute, Dr. Yolanda Soler, delivered talks about the novel and Rulfo’s literary contributions.
