The Undersecretary of Sa’ada Governorate for Humanitarian Affairs – Director of the Branch of the Council for Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation in the governorate, Muhammad Hussein Baydan, met on Sunday with the Acting Director of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs “OCHA”, Tariq Talahma and a number of officials of the organizations.
The meeting discussed the needs of Saada governorate for service and development projects, and the role of organizations in supporting local development efforts to alleviate the suffering of citizens.
In the meeting Baydan reviewed the governorate’s needs for development, service and relief projects, to contribute to alleviating the worst human suffering in the world experienced by the people of Yemen and Sa’ada governorate in particular.
He called for the need to achieve impartiality in providing aid to the affected, displaced and needy, and to remove the governorate from the classification of dangerous and difficult-to-reach areas.
He pointed out the importance of visiting the Acting OCHA office to the governorate and seeing its needs for projects as a result of the systematic destruction by the forces of aggression by targeting vital installations and facilities for more than eight years.
Baydan also called on the OCHA to play its role in addressing the humanitarian situation and alleviating the suffering of the people of the province in accordance with humanitarian standards, pointing to the difficult humanitarian conditions experienced by the people of the province, especially in the border districts, which are subject to continuous targeting, causing the displacement and displacement of many of its residents.
For his part, the Acting Director of the Yemen Office “OCHA” appreciated the efforts of the Humanitarian Affairs Council in providing facilities and overcoming difficulties for humanitarian organizations operating in Sa’ada.
