Local Administration Ministry Addresses 89 Weather-Related Reports Amid Intense Weather Conditions

Amman: The Ministry of Local Administration reported that the recent weather depression affecting the Kingdom since Friday morning was characterized by high intensity over a short period, emphasizing that coordinated efforts allowed authorities to manage 89 reports received by emergency operation rooms in various municipalities, without any major incidents impacting public safety.

According to Jordan News Agency, the Ministry detailed that municipalities, with direct support from Joint Services Councils and Municipal Affairs Directorates, initiated emergency and proactive response plans from the onset of the weather event. They maintained a high state of readiness to handle emergencies, despite the heavy rainfall recorded in a brief timeframe.

The Ministry highlighted that joint efforts among the Ministry of Public Works and Housing, the Jordan Valley Authority, administrative governors, and the Civil Defense Directorate resulted in swift field responses and the immediate addressing of reports as they came in.

The reported cases predominantly involved rising water levels in certain streets and low-lying areas, obstructed rainwater drainage channels, minor incidents of rainwater entering some homes, and the falling of trees due to strong winds. All these issues were resolved by specialized field teams.

The Ministry noted that the weather depression's impact was primarily concentrated in municipalities across the northern and central regions of the Kingdom, especially in Irbid and Madaba governorates. Madaba experienced the highest rainfall at 41 millimeters, leading to intensified field efforts to clear roads and clean drainage channels, waterways, and valleys.

Regarding Karak Governorate, the Ministry affirmed that field teams are continuing to implement long-term solutions for affected sites in several municipalities. It confirmed that no significant problems arose during the depression, aside from minor observations that were promptly addressed.
