LH Legal Committee scheduled to debate election, party bills on Tuesday-Awdat

The Lower House Legal Committee announced that it will begin debating the two new draft laws for elections and political parties, as of next Tuesday, its head MP Abdel Moneim Awdat said.

Speaking at its meeting held Sunday, he noted the panel’s discussions sought to develop its work plan to deliberate the two draft laws.

Awdat noted the committee will launch “extensive” dialogues with all political parties, civil society organizations and stakeholders, and listen to all views with the aim of reaching the “highest” levels of national consensus in this regard.

The LH panel will start its future dialogue by meeting Election and Parties Subcommittee of the Royal Committee to Modernize the Political System (RCMPS), as stakeholders in making visions for such legislation, according to Awdat.

Noting its policy, he said the LH committee is “open listen to all opinions and suggestions about these two draft laws.”

Continuing: “Jordan enters its second centennial, seeking to launch a stage that ensures that Jordanians will move to a programmatic party life to have a basic and effective role in developing Jordan’s parliamentary landscape, which would make a qualitative shift that will positively reflect on strengthening the Kingdom’s democratic path.”
