Legal Affairs Minister meets UN Women Jordan’s new representative

Minister of State for Legal Affairs and Head of the Inter-Ministerial Committee for Women Empowerment Wafa Bani Mustafa on Tuesday UN Women Jordan’s new Country Representative, Nicolas Burniat.

Bani Mustafa highlighted the three modernisation paths that the Kingdom has recently initiated, which are the modernisation of the political system, the vision of economic modernisation, and the map of modernising the public sector.

She referred to the executive plan carried out by the Women’s Empowerment Team to integrate women and enhance their participation in the vision of economic modernisation.

Burniat, for his part, lauded efforts of the Inter-Ministerial Committee for Women Empowerment in various fields, stressing the importance of enhancing the committee’s role to move forward in the field of women’s empowerment.

He said that challenges facing women are common in many countries, and require joint and continuous actions to reduce them, underlining the importance of linking the modernisation of the public sector to the vision of economic modernisation, given the stable job opportunities that the public sector provides with women-friendly benefits.

Both officials underscored the importance of continuing cooperation in the field of women’s empowerment at all levels, especially economic and social.
