Lebanon condemns Israeli far-right minister’s storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque

Lebanon Tuesday condemned far-right Israeli minister Itamar Ben-Gvir’s storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque, protected by heavily armed forces.

The Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement, “This serious violation of the sanctity of Al-Aqsa Mosque indicates the direction of extremist policies that the new Israeli government has begun to practice towards the Palestinian people and their rights and sanctities.”

It said Ben-Gvir’s actions are a “clear declaration” by the Netanyahu government of its aggressive policy and its rejection of peace efforts based on the two-state solution.

The Ministry urged the Security Council to assume its responsibilities to deter the Israeli government and oblige it to uphold international law.
