Umm al-jimal: Latin Patriarchal Vicar General and member of the Baptism Site Board of Trustees, Bishop Iyad Twal, visited the archaeological city of Umm Al-Jimal on Friday, where he was received by Mohammad Khalil Abu Aleem, head of the Umm Al-Jimal Municipal Committee.
According to Jordan News Agency, during the visit, Abu Aleem provided Bishop Twal with a comprehensive overview of Umm Al-Jimal's history, emphasizing its significance as a site with a rich tapestry of civilizations and ancient churches. He expressed the municipality's willingness to collaborate with the Board of Trustees of the Royal Institute for Inter-Faith Studies on scientific and cultural initiatives, underscoring the site's status as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Abu Aleem highlighted the role of Jordan, under His Majesty King Abdullah II's leadership, as an exemplar of religious harmony, celebrating the strong relationships between Muslims and Christians across the nation.
Bishop Twal's visit concluded with an exploration of Umm Al-Jimal's archaeological treasures, where he engaged with the site's remarkable historical features.
