Labor Minister, German ambassador discuss bilateral cooperation

Minister of Labor Yousef Shamali on Thursday discussed with the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Jordan Bernhard Kampmann ways of joint cooperation between the two countries in the labor domain.

During the meeting, Shamali expressed appreciation for the effective efforts made by the German side to enhance cooperation in the labor sector, employment and training programs.

The two sides stressed the importance of a memorandum of understanding signed earlier between the Ministry of Labor and the German Federal Employment Agency (BA), which aims to open job opportunities for Jordanians in the German labor market in various sectors.

They pointed to the importance of partnership between the two sides in labor policies to reduce the repercussions of the coronavirus pandemic, foremost of which is reducing unemployment rates in Jordan.

For his part, the German ambassador praised the fruitful efforts of the Ministry of Labor and its constructive cooperation with German institutions, stressing his country’s interest in supporting and developing the labor system in Jordan in a manner that would increase women’s participation in the labor market and reduce unemployment rates.
