King Chairs New Round of Aqaba Process Initiative in UK

Sandhurst: His Majesty King Abdullah II on Tuesday chaired a new round of the Aqaba Process initiative at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in the United Kingdom, according to a royal court statement.

According to Jordan News Agency, this round of meetings is being held for the second time on the subject of airspace management and the use of drones. Discussions focused on ways to employ modern systems to address shared challenges in this context, as well as on cooperation and exchange of expertise to ensure the safety and efficiency of airspace use.

The sessions, attended by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, experts, and CEOs of specialised international companies, as well as representatives from several countries, emphasized the necessity to update relevant legislation and legal frameworks. This is particularly important to keep pace with the rapid technological advances in the field of unmanned aerial vehicles.

His Majesty launched the Aqaba Process initiative in 2015 to enhance coordination, cooperation, and exchange of expertise between various regional and international parties. Previous rounds have been held in Jordan and other countries in partnership with Jordan, including Spain, Albania, Indonesia, Italy, Brazil, Bulgaria, Rwanda, Singapore, the United Kingdom, Norway, Nigeria, the Netherlands, the United States, and the United Nations.
