Amman: His Majesty King Abdullah II, during a meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, reaffirmed Jordan’s unwavering support for Palestinians in obtaining their legitimate rights and establishing an independent state, based on the two-state solution. The meeting, held on Wednesday, was attended by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II.
According to Jordan News Agency, King Abdullah emphasized that Jordan will continue its efforts at both regional and international levels to bolster the resilience of Palestinians. He expressed the Kingdom’s absolute rejection of any measures to annex land, highlighting the importance of upcoming discussions. The King stressed the significance of the conference on the implementation of the two-state solution, scheduled to take place in New York this month, urging that it should produce actionable steps to support the political process, especially with several European countries intending to recognize the Palestinian state.
The King called on the international community to address threats to regional security and reiterated Jordan’s condemnation of Israel’s actions against Qatar. Discussions also included developments in Palestinian territories, with a focus on mobilizing international support for a ceasefire in Gaza and ensuring humanitarian aid reaches those in need.
His Majesty strongly opposed Israel’s plans to consolidate occupation of Gaza and expand control and settlements in the West Bank. The King reaffirmed Jordan’s commitment to its historic and legal role under the Hashemite Custodianship in protecting Muslim and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem. Additionally, he underscored the importance of supporting the Palestinian National Authority’s reform efforts in ways that benefit Palestinians.
President Abbas acknowledged Jordan’s crucial support, led by King Abdullah, in enhancing the resilience and steadfastness of Palestinians.
