King Abdullah II Discusses Regional Stability with UK Foreign Secretary

Amman: His Majesty King Abdullah II on Tuesday received UK Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs Yvette Cooper. The meeting, also attended by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, focused on the strong ties between Jordan and the UK and explored ways to enhance collaboration in trade, industry, and defence.

According to Jordan News Agency, discussions also included regional developments, with King Abdullah urging commitment to the agreement to end the conflict in Gaza and advocating for increased international humanitarian aid to the area. The King expressed concern over rising tensions against Palestinians in the West Bank and violations of holy sites in Jerusalem.

Furthermore, His Majesty recognized the UK’s significant role in promoting peace and stability, appreciating its recent decision to recognize the State of Palestine. The King also emphasized the importance of supporting Syria and Lebanon in maintaining security and territorial integrity. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and Director of the Office of His Majesty Alaa Batayneh were present at the meeting.
